PC shutdown - temp related?

So I have looked into my PC crashing a little more. I cleaned it out and the core temps of my i7-9700k are around 55 C when idle. However, once I start an application like rocket league they spike to over 100. The CPU usage never surpassed 43% though. My only question at this point is why it is only a recent issue? I have had it for almost a year now and this only started about 4 weeks ago.

its likely temps. try reapplying thermal paste
