So I've been wanting to snag myself a couple LTT toques for awhile. My old toques are worn out. Generally, a toque is a toque; but, I've got money to burn, they look slick as hell, & I want to support the channel for once.

So why are they not listed on the main store, and why am I getting a 404 error when I google the product page? Have they been discontinued already??? It's only March 5th. We've got at least two more -30c spells out here in the prairies, my ears are gonna freeze off if I don't get new headgear. I don't want to buy some generic Walmart bullshit if I can avoid it!

Anyone got info on what's going on with this product?

A couple more critiques for the store if anyone at LTT notices. Can they make it easier to swap currencies for the list pricing, or at the very least give the option to list the product prices in CAD? Listing in GBP, AUD, NZD, and Euro would be nice too. Including Australia and New Zealand in the short list for country options on the address page would be kinda cool too... The whole CANZUK thing.

So couple of things. First, I'm not affiliated with either LMG nor LTTStore.com. Best way to send them feedback is through support email because that goes to specific people working for the store (I've worked as CSA, that really is best way for all feedback).

The beanie seems to be out of stock or otherwise removed. It doesn't show-up in gallery page.

The prices for all LMG things have always been USD. They don't do currency conversion on their side. You usually have option to let your bank do it (cheapest) or the middleman do it (bit more expensive). Having to switch currencies is not very effective for the store, so they tend to select one for their main audience. This is same with forum subscriptions and with Floatplane.

The address short list, sure. Though I personally use just f to jump. Or sometimes t if its translated.

Hey thanks, that explains a lot.

Honestly I'm surprised the USD is the default, considering where they are incorporated. Is what it is.

Yea I usually do the same. It's one of those smaller touches that usually tells me that a vendor gives a shit or not.

... Why would their chosen business model be any reason? Its more about just how their bank sees it best to handle payments after all. Like handling income from YouTube and bigger sponsors that may be paying in USD would make sense the have bigger part of companies money flow in USD. Then just pay wages and running costs in CAD.

I haven't run any sort of business as large as theirs. But, here is my take:

Most of their product development and supply occurs within Canada. This leads to fixed costs in CAD. The CAD-USD exchange is moderately variable. It isn't excessive, but it is enough that basing profit margins off of it is unreliable. Making sales to international buyers based off the USD works because it is a universal standard we all must (and have long since become used to) convert(ing) from. But for sales within Canada, basing everything off USD injects unnecessary risk of profit loss due to currency conversion from CAD to USD on the supply side, then from USD back to CAD on the retail side at a later date..

They have a system, and it must work for them. Free web services provide currency conversion to the minute, and have done so for the past 15 years. It's likely they already use such systems for their online sales from countries that use currencies other than USD. I just think it is ridiculous that I, as a Canadian, need to go through the process of converting the USD list price to CAD for a purchase something from a vendor in Canada. I don't go to the grocery store and am beholden to buy an apple harvested in the Okanagan (in BC) based off the US exchange rate. Why the hell should I have to go through that nonsense for any other goods or services provided within my own country?

Like I said, I think its what their bank recommended to them and its working. You can be all mad you like, and believe me, there have been others like you. But at least back in the days USD used to be more stable currency, and might have been one reason. I don't remember whether it has been discussed  in WAN or not. But for me doesn't really matter. I have used PayPal on all LMG related purchases and selected conversion to be done by my bank every time. Cheapest way to do it.

The conversion fees might be one reason. If majority of their purhcases comes from US, having so many small payments converted vs having bank account in USD and then doing mass conversion might just be cheaper.

Yea they got back to me. Impressed with the quick reply. They basically said the same thing.

As for the toques, not gone forever, thankfully.
