Hi

So today I got a new PC case and while plugging in the USB 3.0 plug 1 or 2 of the pins one the 3.0 connecter on the motherboard got pulled out. Obvisually now the front panel USB ports dont work so I was wondering if there is anything I can do to try to get them work again?

If you have an extra PCIe slot, try a PCIe USB 3 card with internal header.

The only thing I can think of is getting an adapter to usb 2.0 and using the usb 2.0 port on your motherboard. If you need usb 3.0, use the ports of the back or get a pcie card

if the header is missing a pin, i suppose you could always try to put a piece of wire in the corresponding hole of the case's connector, and hope it'll make a propper connection.

as for a propper fix.. an usb 3.0 add-in card, or replacing the header..

do you know if the Asus TUF b450 motherboard has a pcie slot i have 2 but from what I can see those are only for gpu's

Open the case and look at the motherboard.

Most PCIe USB 3 cards that I have seen will do just fine on a PCIe x1 slot. What you call GPU slots are x16 or x8 PCIe slots, which will also accommodate shorter cards.

is there any type that you would recommend?

Found this. Will give you 5 rear ports and an internal USB 3 header. It will require SATA power.

Alternatively, there’s this which will only give you 2 rear ports and an internal USB 3 header, but doesn’t require a separate power input.
