I've made a thread about this before, but I couldn't explain it well enough. This situation keeps happening where Window 10 partially freezes. Some parts of the UI are frozen, others are not. It's really weird and hella annoying. The last thread I made about this issue, some guy told me to do a RAM test using memtest86, which I did, and it turned up no errors.

Here's a video of my issue, which should more than show what's going on. Yes I'm going to contact Microsoft about this, but I need to know some kind of fix/hot fix in the meantime.

Did you ever find a solution to this? My gf's PC is doing the same thing as you describe, the UI freezes on some apps, while other apps (seem*) to work just fine, like I can navigate in the file explorer (if its already open. Once this "freeze" happens, its a coin toss if you can open a program or not), open task manager and all, but nothing actually works; task manager reports 0% usage in every department for every open application and you can't switch tabs, once you try, task manager freezes too and there is nothing you can do. Must hard reset every time.

* MS Word "works" sometimes, and you can press ctrl + s to save, but it won't actually save anything, whatever changes u've made since the last save, its gone. Taking a picture with phone camera is the only solution there.

I have ruled out RAM and storage. Those were all replaced with known good ones (my own), and the problem still occurred; those components are now back in my system and mine functions perfectly. We don't have access to any other AM4 motherboard (speaking of, I'll list the specs down below) or CPU, so we can't swap those to anything to see if any of those would fix the issue. We have the same GPU, I've swapped those too and also no change.

Specs:
MSI X470 Gaming Plus Max

AMD Ryzen 5 3600x

Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16

Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Windforce OC 8GB

1TB Sabrent Rocket NVMe SSD

4GB Seagate BarraCuda HDD

Seasonic Focus GX 750W 80+ Gold PSU

Cooler Master TD500 Case - mentioning because of lighting software.

Cooler Master ML360P AIO

I've done a clean reinstall of her OS twice now to no avail, I ensured I installed all the latest drivers and tried them in specific orders each time, there is no overclock applied (only whatever the 3600x does automatically), XMP on or off made no difference, not even in the frequency of these freezes... Eventviewer shows absolutely nothing wrong in the time leading to the freeze and force restart.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, or if you managed to solve this issue, I would appreciate the help. Thanks!

if it's not ram, it's probably the hard drive(s)

It is not the hard drives. I have swapped both the SSD & hard drive for known working ones, like I mentioned in the post.

I've ruled out RAM and storage by methods I've explained in the post. Swap for known good ones, issue still persists.

OS has been reinstalled multiple times, I said twice in the post, meaning twice on her own SSD, but I had my own SSD in her system where I installed windows on a separate partition to eliminate conflicting drivers and the same issue happens at the same frequency (about 5/6 times a week). So it isn't storage. Definitely not RAM, ran memory tests which returned no errors what-so-ever, I've swapped her 2 sticks with 2 of my own that I use daily (and I do not get crashes of any sort), changed the stick slots from B2 & A2 to B1 & A1, tried using only a single stick at a time in different slots each time, and the same issue at the same frequency occurred every time.

I didn't want to start a new thread, just wanted to ask the OP and others on that thread if they ever found a solution. Can TopWargamer still see my question?

Yes, the quote and link to original give notifications. But they haven't been here for 6 months. That's another reason why you shouldn't revive old threads.
