Budget (including currency): not sure yet

Country: usa

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: fornite, valorant, light gaming

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

My daughter wants to get into PC gaming. She asked for a pc but all she said is that it'll be for light gaming. For some context she started gaming on a switch when the pandemic started (animal crossing) but she is starting to venture out to other games. She does play on my laptop, but I rather have something a little better. She just started gaming so I do want to future proof it as much as possible. Any suggestions on which route to go? I am thinking AMD Ryzen 3 with a GPU that can get her high fps at 1080

How does this look? May be a little overkill but you wanted "futureproof" and this should be able to run basically any game at nice settings for the next few years. GPU can be configured to be less expensive.

Does she have any preferred graphics quality? Like medium, high, ultra?

This is her very 1st pc. She just started playing games at the beginning of the pandemic so this isn't going to matter to her right now that's why I want to future proof it for her just in case

This looks good actually but rtx isn't needed right now. She won't care about that. I want to start her like medium-ish settings at 1080p just in case she ends up deserting gaming. Which I pray she doesn't

You could use the build that Brok3n made but switch the GPU to a 1650 Super.

And try to find one at most, less than $200. If you could, best you wait till the shortage and inflated prices cool down.

In that case if you're willing to wait a little while for prices to drop, a 5600xt or 5500xt might be a good idea. Depending on when their birthday is you could also try to get your hands on a updated (currently unreleased) version of the 5600xt/5500xt, or the 1650/1660/2060 from Nvidia. The i3-10100 has integrated graphics so you could also rain check if you needed to 🤷‍♂️

My hope is to get this built for her birthday in April or for her graduation near the summer. Hopefully we can have some parts available by either of these times

Yeah the shortages are crazy right now but I'm going to be patient and get as many components as they become available
