I have an MSI x570 pro with a 5900x and in my BIOS there is the A-XMP selector and there is 1 and 2 in that spot. When i select either of them it doesnt appear to be any different between the 2 of them. I have 32gb Gskill 2400 and i run it with XMP 1 set to 2700 (its 27 something) anyway the timings arent different between the 2 XMP profiles so why is there 2 profiles to choose from and what makes one better than the other?

Most boards are written with ability to use more than one XMP profile should the ram have it.

It may be different timings in sub timings 2 and 3. Proprietary may be exactly the same. Difference will depend on how the board and imc react to either profile.

I've built quite a few OCs off of leaving XMP disabled, but manually input the memory XMP frequency and leave timings on auto. Sometimes, believe it or not, some boards actually pick better timings at certain frequencies. Generally looser than the XMP profile, but helps to extend the overclock frequency.
