Testing new parts

I'm getting some parts for my next itx build (motherboard, psu, etc). I am transferring my current cpu and gpu to it. Is it possible to test bench with my cpu and gpu then put it back into the current rig I have like nothing happened? I am still waiting on the case and need to see if everything works fine
