Memory profiles and overclocking

I'm trying to run my memory above the 2400 mhz default. I tried to use the two A-XMP profiles in the BIOS. However, the system is very unstable and fails to boot sometimes. I should point out that the memory is, unfortunately, not on the QVL list.

 

I noticed in BIOS that the A-XMP profiles listed by MSI (Screenshot 1.bmp) do not match up with the profiles specified under memory SPD (Screenshot 2.bmp). Both the A-XMP profiles seem to give the same 3600 clock (which are not stable). I would expect the A-XMP profiles to match those specified by HyperX, or have I misunderstood?

 

Any suggestions for how to proceed trying to get more out of the memory, or am I better off leaving it at the default 2400? (E.g. links to good and appropriate guides are appreciated.)

 

System:

- MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk

- AMD Ryzen 9 3950X

- HyperX DDR4-3600 CL18 4x32GB (HX436C18PB3AK4/128; The computer is used for memory heavy simulations.)

- Corsair VS550 PSU

I would suggest you to try this, I would start by 3200mhz then if it works use a 3600 profile. You are technically not overclocking but setting your timings manually.

Good to know about QVL.

 

I followed the guide, aiming at 3200mhz with safe calculation. The B550 is not in the motherboard list in DRAM calculator. Google told me that others have had success using X570 option. However, the system did not boot. I'll attach the calculator output and input. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
