Rule of thumb is you never mix and match RAM. When matching ram you need to use the same exact ram module. 24gb of ram isn't ideal anyway. You need to find 2x16 ram sticks. If you currently have the 1x8 then just sell it. Linus just put out a video on it today if you need a break down on why you shouldn't mix and match ram. Linus video

I mean one of my ram sticks is bad so that’s why I wanted to buy just one stick also that’s good timing on that Linus video

They are compatible, and mixing ram works fine but it might not run as well, if the RAM kit is new see if you can return it
