I was looking through the specifications of my motherboard since my Rosewill CAT 6 cable wouldn't fit and I couldn't find if they were compatible (https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16812119161?Item=N82E16812119161

Motherboard LAN port: 1x Intel® I219-V

If there is a shield on the end of the cable, cut it off, if that doesn’t work, then check your port for anything, but any RJ45 cable should work.

It seems to fit but it doesn't click in and it slips out without any force so I'm not totally sure where I went wrong

Is the tab in the cable still there? Those can snap off quite easily.

Try wiggling it around in the port a bit.

If your talking about the little plastic tab to release it, yes, however it doesn't engage in this port

Ah, the boot might be causing an issue. Try to really push the cable in there until you hear a click or cut off the boot around the clip if you want to be extra sure.

That's really weird, it should just click right in.
