Hi guys,

My power supply keeps buzzing. I’ve attached a video. Is this a serious problem or is it just an annoyance?

Thanks

So you say it's the older CX600 (not a CX650) and it just started doing this?

Sure it's not the fan?  Can you stop the fan from spinning (like with a Q-tip or pencil eraser or drinking straw) to see if the noise stops?

Hello,

I haven’t done any troubleshooting yet, as I had no idea how to fix it. I’ll try blocking the fan, and seeing if the noise stops. I’ll reply again once I’ve done it.

Hi again, I couldn't block the fan, but I noticed the sound goes away when I lay my computer flat on it's side (resting on the back side panel). What does this mean?

It means it's the fan.

What shall I do then? Does it need replacing or is it just a noise? I don’t wanna have to buy a new power supply if I don’t have to.

Yeah.   PSUs don't last forever.

The fan is the first thing to go.  It's a good sign that something is going to fail next.

Time to replace the PSU.

Thanks for your help, do you have any recommendations for another PSU?
