Does raid 0 actually improve performance?

Does anyone with experience with crystal disk mark explain if raid 0 in better. I put 2 Samsung 850 evos in raid 0 and I have been thinking about putting my other samsung 860 evo in raid 0 but from testing i dont see it any better. attached are the test of drive D (raid 0) and drive e (non raid). i know sata caps at 6Gb can raid 0 go faster.

Do you have any other software doing caching?

 

Those speeds are way above sata speeds, so you have some caching going on here, Id turn that off as windows does it already.

You must have some sort of caching enabled. SATA drives can't reach anywhere near those speeds.

i allocated 14GB of my 64gb into ram cache. I really not sure what ram caching does but i sounded good

How did you do that? What program?

 

Id turn that off, as windows does this with all your free ram already, and that type of caching can lead to data loss.

 

Your just benchmarking your ram here, thats why raid doesn't make a difference.

my asus motherboard came with asus ram cache III

now i use a nvme ssd for my boot drive, my sata drive are only used for steam games, there no performance improvement at all? i could care less about data loss on those drives

Yea windows already does ram caching for you, so no need for extra software. The third party software just messes with direct io, so that programs like crystal disk mark that ask to not be cached will be cached. No reason to use the software as windows does it just as well, and less change of drive corruption or data loss, and uses all the free ram instead of a fixed amount.

 

Raid will make the drives faster, but won't make a noticeable difference in game load times.

I was going to say, but I wasnt sure, Samsung Magician that comes with most of their drives have this performance boost thingy that uses your ram to speed up read and write speeds by caching, I never used it though cause I wasnt sure about it

Yea thats just using the ram as a cache, Id leave it off as windows already uses ram as a cache, and those caching programs can lead to data loss.

ok so i turned of ram cache III and my raid 0 (drive D) speed has changed but i re ran the test on my other sata drive and its still well over 7gbs, in task manager it says 10 GB cached, sorry i said i have 14GB cached it was actually 10gbs.
