Budget ($1100 US):

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming and streaming to twitch.

Other details want to be be able to play and stream games such as Red dead redemption 2, overwatch, killing floor 2 etc. Hoping I can stick to a ryzen 7 cpu as I'm a bit of a AMD fan boy because of my long history with them. But I need general ideas. Not quite sure what's the most bang for the buck as my last system I built was in 2011 😅

Please fill in before requesting build help:

1. Budget & Location

You may have listed a heap of parts that all add up to your preferred budget, but it is easier if you just list the total amount you'd like to spend and the currency as well as if you'd consider going above that budget for more performance. We need the location as well because $US are different to $AUD and $CAD etc.

2. Aim

What is the system going to be used for? Web browsing, 3D work? Different systems need various levels of performance - a computer based for web browsing and office use won't handle heavy graphic design and video editing and a proper video editing system isn't good for gaming. If your aim is for gaming, please list what sort of gaming. In the same way that different usage types need different systems, you'll need a lot more power to run Far Cry 3 or Crysis 2 than you would Minecraft.

3. Monitors

How many monitors do you plan to use? Do you plan to add more monitors in the future? What resolution are they at too?

4. Peripherals

Do you also need to purchase peripherals such as keyboards and mice as well as monitors etc. Also please tell us if you'll need an OS such as Windows.

5. Why are you upgrading?

We ask this because you may see upgrading as the only path to solve an issue but things such as driver updates, reconfiguration or cleaning can boost performance without spending a cent.

6. Please, No Dream Builds

We are here to assist you in recommending parts for real world builds.

So a 5800x would be too expensive, and so would a 3700x if you want a 3060ti/3070

I know you are an amd fan, but the 10700f is going for 250 on promo, and with 8 cores and 16 threads, that would be great for streaming. You could get a 3700x with a x570 board, but the 3700x is $50 more and has similar performance.

My primary system: Core I7 10700k, 32 gb Trident Z RGB ram@3200mhz, EVGA GTX 970 SSC (will upgrade), NZXT N7 Z490 motherboard (Black), Samsung 970 Evo plus 1TB SSD, NZXT C850 PSU, Hyper 212 EVO cooler (getting new water cooler soon), NZXT H510i case.

My secondary system: Core I7 4820k, 16 gb quad channel 1600mhz ram, GTX 780 reference, Asus PX79LE, SK Hynix GOLD s31 500gb SSD, some 10 yr old Cooler Master 750w psu, Hyper 212, old Cooler Master case.

Laptop: Lenovo l380 yoga I5 8250u, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd storage)

Yeah my hope would be to snag one of those but it seems I'd have an eaiser time buying a kidney off the black market then locating a 3060ti in the wild right now

-10700F with a Z490 board. Unlocks ram speeds, but that way you are paying alot more. You shouldn't be spending $200 on a motherboard, especially with a $1100 budget.

-Getting a 3060 on launch day....unless a miracle happens I doubt it (but hey, could happen if OP is willing to try)
-Once again, very poor case choice. The P360A is cheaper and has much better airflow, and is just a much better case overall. No reason at all too go with the H510.
-CXM units are very meh. The original CX series are actually better quality

You think you can actually get a 3060ti? Also, you might want a b550 board. You can get the B550 phantom gaming 4 for the same price as that b450 board, and that would give you pcie 4.0. It isn't important, but for the same price you might as well get a pcie 4.0 capable board. EDIT: it is actually $7 more, but I think it is still worth it.

I'm probably going to be picking everything up by the end of the month honestly. When is the 3060ti launching?

Would the RTX 3060 coming out on the 25th be anywhere near the same performance as the 3060ti?

It would probably be pretty close in performance to the 3060ti. It has a lot less CUDA cores, but it has more VRAM and has a much lower price. If you can get a 3060, get it. If you can get a 3060ti, get it. Neither are a bad option.
