So I was just playing Rocket League when my controller randomly disconnected. I'm using an Xbox One controller, and when I unplugged it and plugged it back in I got the usual vibration telling me it was just plugged in, but the Xbox light won't light up.

Also, if I try to do things with certain Windows functions I get extremely weird behavior. I currently have all USB devices unplugged from my computer except for my mouse and keyboard, which are plugged into the USB2.0 ports on my motherboard. The controller was plugged into a front panel USB3.0 port.

I downloaded the program Carnac to troubleshoot and whenever I click into a Windows Settings window, for example, I get a continuous stream of input of "Linefeed, Oemtilde MButton, Oemtilde KanaMode, Oemtilde". This causes the Settings window to constantly scroll itself to the bottom. If I just click on the Windows taskbar search box, for example, I just get one instance of that line of input and the search box closes itself instantly. If I try to click on the search box inside a Windows Explorer window, I get one instance of the weird input and it instantly clicks itself out of the search box. If I try to open a picture with the default "Photos" app, I get a stream of input and the image zooms itself in all the way. I can open the Start menu, but if I try to click on the Power icon, I get one instance of input and the start menu closes itself.

However, inside of Chrome everything behaves normally.

I'm at a complete loss here, and worried to restart my computer for fear of whatever is happening could prevent a successful boot. Attached is a screenshot of what Carnac is displaying.

Many thanks in advance

I was able to mitigate the issue by running a troubleshooter on my "computer" from the "Devices and Printers" menu (as circled in one of the screenshots). It showed errors with the devices I have circled in the other screenshot, which it did something too and told me to restart my computer. Before restarting my computer, I disabled those devices. After restarting, which was normal and successful, the issue seems to have been solved. When I plug in my controller, it behaves totally normally. In addition, everything seems to be behaving normally.

I am reluctant to mark this as solved, however, as it seems more like a blind workaround rather than an actual solution.
