Coloured objects against a dark background dragging :/

When I am playing games with a red dot reticule, the red dot colour 'drags' across the screen like a flare if you were to run with it.

Please could I have some help to fix this issue? Is it my monitor or my GPU or...

Slow mo video attached which shows the 'frames' of the coloured dots dragging after what is suppose to be the only dot.

GPU: GTX 1080 (Driver:Version 461.49)

Monitor: MSI - Optix MAG241C Full HD 23.6" Curved LED Gaming Monitor (Connected via display port)

That monitor uses a VA panel, and as correctly stated above, dark transitions are a weak point of Va panel technology. Slow transition speeds results in ghosting (blurring), this is what ur experiencing.

If im not mistaken that model has overdrive, enable it and set it to either its highest setting or second highest. This should help.

I believe it also has a BFI implementation, however this is likely unavailable with freesync at the same time, so u can enable it (probably called something like Low Motion blur mode or some such) to try it out see if it helps, it will likely cause some amount of strobe crosstalk however which may be more noticeable than the amount of blur it reduces. None the less give it a try.
