Hey guys, I  work for a small IT company specifically specializing in small business dental offices of anywhere between 5-40 workstations in an office and always one Windows Server which is a Domain Controller with DHCP/DNS & Active Directory responsibilities.

Our company replaces many workstations and servers for offices. A major issue we often face is transferring the office domain controller from the old server to the new one. We don't really have a good guide as to how to properly migrate domain controllers in a smooth, consistent, and reliable way. The sources we use are both from Microsoft, and they are quite old.

Microsoft Source 1

Microsoft Source 2

I am asking for some help if anyone has any sources that can be shared with me as to how to migrate domain controllers. This is usually a headache process for us and I know there are better ways to go about this. We do server replacements typically from Server2012 to now Server2016/2019.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can answer any questions as well. Thank you!
