HI everyone! As the title says, I am a 1st time PC builder and am currently working on buying parts for my Gaming PC. Here is my list of parts that I want to buy. The only things I am still looking into is Keyboard/Mouse along with Power Supply. I did some research for Power Supplies and (correct me if I am wrong) apparently too much wattage can cause my electric bill to increase on top of generating excess heat in a PC for any excess wattage. My build currently sits at around 380-420 watts depending on the GPU. If anyone can, could someone help me choose an appropriate PSU? Thank you for any help!

That PSU will be fine, but you can get a RM750 or TX750 if you want higher quality.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

A 650 watt psi would be best. You are correct that excessively big psu s (like 1000 watts in your case) will waste power. However, psu s are also not very efficient at 90 or 100 percent load (this would be how a 450watt operates in your system. Also, that wouldn’t give you any room to upgrade. My recommendation would be a 650 watt unit with at least a 80+ bronze certification.

My primary system: Core I7 10700k, 32 gb Trident Z RGB ram@3200mhz, EVGA GTX 970 SSC (will upgrade), NZXT N7 Z490 motherboard (Black), Samsung 970 Evo plus 1TB SSD, NZXT C850 PSU, Hyper 212 EVO cooler (getting new water cooler soon), NZXT H510i case.

My secondary system: Core I7 4820k, 16 gb quad channel 1600mhz ram, GTX 780 reference, Asus PX79LE, SK Hynix GOLD s31 500gb SSD, some 10 yr old Cooler Master 750w psu, Hyper 212, old Cooler Master case.

Laptop: Lenovo l380 yoga I5 8250u, 8gb ram, 256gb ssd storage)

Quite a bit I would change.

If you are mainly gaming then I would go with the 5600X over the 3700X.

I haven't included Windows as you can buy a cheap key from places that sell pc game keys. Also no monitor as you can probably get something better than that 75Hz 1080p one.
