Hi Fellow Tech Brothers and Sisters

How are you al doing? i hope you and your family are also doing good during this Pandemic.

So i am typing on a  :

Legion Y540-15IRH Laptop (Lenovo) - Type 81SX

i bought this in late 2019,so far i am having a good time.

Summer 2020 i've send my unit way for repair, problems with temp's and.

after i got my Notebook back board swap ...hybrid mode (iGPU and dGPU) was a not working in vantage software , saw my notbook as an IDEAPAD (MSINFO),send it a couple of times away...

so after my complaints of many months and bed service, totday i recieved a email that i wil get a full refund... and send this back to Lenovo again i bought this in late 2019.

Dualboot: Windows 10 & Manjaro Linux

Current specs: intel 9750H B.C @ 2.60Ghz

Nvidia 2060 6GB
16GB dual channel.
evo 970 .NVME boot drive

SATA 860 1TB SSD for storage

is now the time for an AMD? or still INTEL (yes, i follow the AMD news) Zen3 all sounds very good.

only i need a little advice as i am less technical about AMD.

I like to game, right now I play The Division 2, Grand Theft Auto, Minecraft, Cyberpunk 2077

Nvidia on linux is ... Vulkan API AMD however is better.

but i want to focus more on Windows for gaming.

how are the CPU temp on AMD, intel was a hot one how is the IPC at AMD?

what do i need to know about AMD CPU thats diffrent to intel.

Really all depends on the laptop how well they cool but in general amd is far easier to cool than intel. Still need a laptop or want a desktop.

For laptops right now amd is beyond king. Intel isn't even close. Their best offerings just barely compete with amds chips that are multiple steps from their cpu's. That and those big boi 8 core intel chips only compete with those amd cpu's when in those massive gaming laptops with really strong cooling whilst the amd offerings sit in a 14 inch laptop doing just fine.

So if going for a new laptop a amd + nvidia combo is best of course search by laptop as for example the new tuf series has some major issues with cooling even tho they are more than capable to do so.

Steam in home streaming? A desk wouldn't exactly cost much? Plenty of used desks for like 10$ to go around. Or ya know the usual piece of wood on 2 pieces of furniture setup. Or a folding table all cheap options.

If you want a laptop I'd say wait like a month as new ones will be out for sale then making the old ones either cheaper and/or obsolete.

Wel streaming my PC like via VNC or others to my Smartphone or to a diffrent capable notebook so i can still use my PC's powerfull capacity remotley/streamed in house or even out side my home over IP.

a desk is not a problem, and yes you are right i can buy a desk for 30 euro's.

boggy77 made me think about, and also if my notebook will be send back i can do it with out it for a couple of months.

atleast i can re-think about the options that has been given to me.

AMD is paving the way , and i am iching for AMD's POWER house again.

you can use teamviewer or remote desktop to stream to a laptop. not sure about a phone, but i'm sure there are solutions there as well.

You can basically use steam in home streaming for everything for in house and teamviewer out but if it's too difficult just get a laptop. I wouldn't buy a notebook right now as well they are about to be replaced and the ones out right now aren't that much better than your current one spec wise.

@boggy77

Yes, you are right i am using teamvieuwer

however on Reddit there is already ongoing topic

apreantly Moonlight is a compariosion of Nvidia version.

 @jaslion

indeed,i tried that one, and it mirrors the client side.

i'm going to sit and wait a bit more.

think of the options with pc and plus a decent laptop if i remotely need my desktop.
