Budget (including currency): around $400

So finally Im looking to upgrade from the 2500k.
Im using the PC for gaming, programming and some 3d rendering like testing stuff, no heavy overnight rendering.
I have 1060 6G and I don't plan to change it in the next 2 years, I play on 1080p 60
I was looking into the 3600x($240 without fan) or the newer 5600x ($427). The price difference is almost double while looking at benchmarks its not that huge.
My concern is if the 5600x is better for the future where I might upgrade the GPU.
I have not looked that much into Intel but I could take a look if there is something better there.

Both the 3600x and 5600x will be good for the future, cause the 3600x also has Pcie Gen 4.

If you want to upgrade prioritize the platform first.

Any 4 cores upgrade will be better than 2500k. You can upgrade later.

$427 is not worth it for 5600x.

Wait a little longer for the supply to replenish, or use 3600 instead.

If you want cheaper and readily available you can go to Aliexpress.

From Aliexpress you mean to get something that will work on the current socket?

This should be fine but I don't know if you have decent storage which you can stick in this system, though once ram prices settle down you could get a 128gb ssd

you could also get a better cooler with the amount shaved off from ram though

if people can make fake intel chips why not fake amd chips?

Everything can be faked, make sure you check the sellers reputation, rating and comments before buying online.

Also make sure you can always get your money back if it weren't real.

Many online sites have buyers protection, including Aliexpress.

The sellers won't get the money unless you authorize it.
So before the time expired you should test it, and make a dispute if you're getting the wrong product.

If it says Ryzen 3600 and you get Athlon 3000, you should get your money back (even 3x the value).

You are also eligible for AliExpress Buyer Protection when:
You've received items that are not as described (e.g. you ordered a 32GB MP3 Player but you received a 16GB MP3 Player) and/or your negotiations for a refund with the seller were not successful.
You did not receive your order within the stated delivery time and/or your negotiations for a refund from the seller were not successful.
You received fake items that were promised to be genuine (e.g. the item was described as an 'iPhone 5', but you received a 'HiPhone5' copy). In this case, you are able to get 3 times your money back in compensation

thanks for the knowledge, the fakes may damage the socket though so i would say still try to be careful around cpus

AFAIK those Intel chips, the label are grinded first then laser etched, i don't know if this possible with Ryzen since it has some fragile pins.

Plus Ryzen have soldered IHS, so in the case of they replacing it with a fake one, it would need more effort than Intel, and possibly damaging the product.

People can be naive, they authorized the payment without checking the product. Those often fell into the trap.
