Hey guys, this morning I woke up to my PC reporting a Smart Failure Predicted error in my BIOS which pointed to my Samsung NVMe SSD which contains mostly my OS and some software. The drive has never had any problems before and the PC let me boot, and is working as intended but I've seen  this error is a bad omen of things to come so I plan on replacing the drive with another NVMe SSD. So I just have a few questions that I would be really grateful to get the answer to:

1. Is there a way I can backup/clone the data on the drive to another drive?

2. What steps should I take to make sure the drive doesn't fail? Can I run any tests that might indicate what is going wrong with it, and perhaps save it?

Thank you!

Check Samsung's website for any software related to cloning for your SSD. Usually, they have software on the product page's website that will clone information from/to drives.

You can't really stop it other than to stop writing/erasing on the SSD to stop the progress of wear on the storage cells. If the SSD in still within the manufacturer's warranty (usually 5 years, at least my 970 EVO is), contact Samsung and see if you can get an RMA for it, otherwise you will need to replace the drive.

Easy:

https://www.ubackup.com/free-backup-software.html

I've used it many times, very handy software.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Thanks for the advice, I bought a 970 EVO Plus and a USB adapter as my motherboard sadly only has 1 M.2 slot, as well as downloaded the Samsung Drive Migration software. Here's hoping that all goes smoothly!
