I use an asus tuf b450m plus gaming, and have a gpu in the top slot (connected to cpu and is reinforced). Unlike the tuf b550 boards, the pcie 1x slot is placed in a way that the gpu (if it takes up 2 slots like every gpu on the planet these days do) , leaving me with only 1 accessable pcie 16x slot (which I think is only wired up to be 8x anyway). I was thinking of getting a wireless network card (a pcie one with bluetooth and wifi because I am using a usb one, my router is downstairs). Is there a way I can get back this slot, like a 1x riser cable (preferably off amazon or eBuyer), as it feels like a waste to use a 16x slot for a 1x wifi card. I think a wifi card should be supported by the screws in the slot covers on my case that it should be fine without a mount, but I want to be sure. Also a recomendation for a wifi+bluetooth card would not go amis. Thx

Yea, it is a bit bad. especially it being asus and they make GPUs. I will likely use the riser. What makes it worse is that if they swapped the position with the m.2 it would be fine (except for 3090s being tripple slot but at that point use an z570 chipset instead on an rog build not a midrange tuf). the the full length screw hole for the m.2 wasn't their either then they could fit the slot (physically idk about electrics) next to the m.2.

No, I see what you mean. I would just be nice. By the time I would need it i likely would have upgraded my motherboard anyway. I guess I was just getting ahead of myself 😅
