Antivirus recommendations?

J.Munslow

Hi,

Been using bitdefender for a while not but i'm finding that it's becoming a bit too zealous when blocking programs, including things like chrome and different steam games...

Can anybody recommend an alternative or do you just make do with windows defender?

thanks,

Jason

If you really need it I'd recommend Acronis, LTT did a video on it

I use F-Secure Antivirus (not the full internet suite). Very light, no toolbars, no stupid system optimizer, software updater, registry cleaner, yada yada yada like a lot of AVs now have.

See where it ranks in terms of lightness here = Comparison - AV-Comparatives (av-comparatives.org)

My second choice would be ESET NOD32. the others each come with their problems  such as toolbars or software installed without your consent (ie, Kaspersky installs a VPN for you which is limited to 200MB per day then it prompts you to upgrade your subscription)

Alienware m16 R1 | AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX | SK Hynix 64 GB 5200 MHz DDR5 RAM | GeForce RTX 4090 16 GB GDDR6 | 16" QHD+ (2560 x 1600) 240Hz, 3ms 300-nits Screen | 2x Samsung 990 PRO 4TB SSDs + WD_BLACK SN770M 2TB SSD | Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 | Windows 11 Pro

Defender.
Dont need more if your always updated.
Daily Driver for me since Years, since dont like small Icons on my Taskbar.

Defender has the best Integration into Windows and isnt as bad as Years ago.

Microsoft has come a long way since the 90s & windows xp. They're experts at using the latest technology like AI. For the cost of most other anti-virus, I'd rather buy another back up disk. Back up your stuff regular and keep windows up to date.
