so my PC just died and the hardware was old so i deceided to update everything. so i bought everything but a GPU and to my dismay i was completely oblivious  to the fact that scalpers have taken over the market and 500-800 cards are now selling for nearly 2-3 times the MSRP.

What is Nvidia doing to combat this? How they hell am i supposed to get a  new GPU. My current one is a 1080ti Black.

Just keep the 1080 Ti for now. That's still a really good card.

Not much anyone can do. The only GPU's I can see from retailers are 1030s and 710s. Second hand market is crazy. A 1080Ti would cost £500 where I am ($700). You basically have two choices. No PC until you can get a GPU you want from a retailer (likely 6m+ wait) or buy something massively overpriced second hand. Basically one of two awful options.

If your CPU was overheating then you have a cooling issue, not a dying CPU. What were the symptoms?

the 8th core was not working under load and it was causing issues leading to blue screen. I replaced it w/ an older loaner cpu for testing and the problem resolved but the video card itself also has been running rather hot. I had a water cooler and 3 fans but it was still getting rather hot. the failing cpu was reaching 90+ the one i was using for testing wasnt breaking 77 under load. my newer build runs upwards of 80 w. a 10th gen i7 10700k and a bigger case w/ more airflow.

Strange that this was happening.

Simply replace the thermal paste on it as it's probably dried out and give the fans/heatsink a good dusting and it will work like brand new.

You can upgrade now, but you're going to pay a stupid amount of money for a new card. Seriously, the 1080 Ti is a fine card. You're lucky that you even have a nice card right now. Just hold onto it for now.
