Budget (including currency): ~6-6.5 grand AUD

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Engineering (3d modelling and rendering), conputer science (including some virtualisation) and occasional video editing

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): No periferals needed and building from scratch. I have three older existing monitors (only running 1080p) that I plan to use, but could add extra in the future.

I was hoping to get some input on my selection of PC parts for my first self-built workstation. It is an AMD threadripper based build and was hoping to also get advice on compatibility, particularly when it comes to parts physically fitting together (like the cooler and motherboard).

My build is as in: PC Part Picker

Thanks for your advice

Thanks for the reply and the advice,

My only question is do you think it is necessary to go full tower case (I prefer the smaller form factor and without a glass front panel)?

Ah. It’s not necessary. This is basically a case made for large water cooling. If you want a microATX build I can make that aswell

Sounds good, I think I'll stick to mid tower in the end and don't have any plans for full water cooling (except the AIO).
