What are the chances of a spare cable behind your back-panel shorting your motherboard?

Actual_Criminal

A lot of the time we cram on that rear panel and hope for the best. Of course in my scenario, I have a SATA power splitter with tons of unused connections on.

If pressed against the motherboard, could it somehow arc and short parts?

Also, with so many different kinds wires behind a case in suck a crammed space, is there no electrical interference issues ever?

the cables are all coated so the chances are pretty low tbh, as long as no cables get pressed into those exposed pins to bridge them youll be alright

My profile picure is real. That's what I look like in real life. I'm actually a blue and white African Wild Dog.

Nothing is impossible...but we are talking mostly very low voltage and extremely low amperage.

Re interference: we are talking supply...not communication grade transmissions here.

so, of the millions and millions of units in use....I'd have to say the answer to your question is obvious...NOT MUCH CHANCE.

You really should work out your cable management.  Get some zip ties or more velcro straps.
