Budget Nas

Arcticfo

Hey guys long time no post.  I'm looking for a quality budget NAS system for my house.

Requirements:

At least 3 terabytes

Under $250 with drives

Preferable:

Up-gradable (though things such as the my clouds from wd are acceptable, I would like the ability to have swappable bays)

Cloud access

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you guys in advance!

THIS! i find pre-built NAS WAY too expensive for what they do, they are normally slower than building a tiny rig, which has a lot more expandability

Though I would love to build my own nas my only worry about it is Power draw.  Even at it's lowest point the power draw would be significantly more than a pre-built NAS  (Yes I know that will add up to pennies on the dollar over a year, but it slightly matters to me :P)

Also another minor concern is I don't have much of a data center/ basement it would be nice if I could fit this into a small enclosed space in plain site making pre-built NAS the best option.

Then you can't upgrade it. Build the one I suggested.

You won't find a good NAS for 250 dollars with drives that satisfies all your requirements, sorry.
