So I have an i5 2500k that I will be using and keeping, so I am only looking for lga 1155 board. Budget will be around $100USD. Features I am looking for is 8+2 power phase minimum, 4 6gb/s Sata connection. My choice of board is MSI, but would be open to trying something different if it fits. Color theme is black/blue mostly. Would like to stay with this as much as possible. Rest of my PC is in my sig and will stay as is.

a z77 gd65 would be fine. i have an z77 mpower and that is great, it is black and yellow though so it might not fit with your build. i wouldn't go lower than a gd 45 though because the gd43 doesn't have very good overclocking features. gigabyte ud3h is a good board as well

AsRock Z77 Extreme4, MSI Z77A-GD55, etc.

Neither have the SATA connections, but both have the power phase.

The GD65 I believe is far out of his budget.

And from an owner of the UD3H, it is crap. 4 USB ports blown and a fan header blown later, I am contemplating Z87 ITX.

I realize that, but I dont wanna get rid of my 2500k becuase it is superior to the 4670k for overclocking everywhere I read.

Good bang for your buck board and it matches your black/blue color theme!

I am looking for a Z77 board.. not Z87

saying that is sorta true. your 2500k @ 4.3GHz is an Ivy 3570k @ 4.0GHz and

the 4670k @ 3.8GHz. so the 4670k in stock config is a bit better than your 4.3GHz

overclock in performance marks. so, with that said, it is all the silicone lottery. if you

get a 4670k that is stable overclocked 4.5GHz, your 2500k has got to be 5.0GHz to

match the marks. so it isn't the superiority of sandy bridge as the ability to get a

overclockable haswell processor. and they are out there. from my 6 haswell the least

was 4.5GHz. lucky? prolly. never batch hunted for a CPU. HWBOT has great insight.

average 4670k reported overclock is 4.542GHz on air cooling.

would it be worth moving from sandy bridge to haswell, prolly not. but finding a new

motherboard in that pricing for your needs might be an eye-opener. might have to

resort to used high-end. and most of the warranty periods might be close to expiration.
