I have the GX701GX Gaming laptop... It runs EXTREMELY HOT!!!

I wanted to undervolt it so It wouldn't cook itself to death and The voltage offset sliders were grayed out image.thumb.png.164cd585df17cb37e843a995a4e1954a.png

As you can see I have the i7-8750h... I tried throttlestop and nothing worked

Right now I'm pretty pissed cause Im sick and tired of thermal throttling when Im gaming... it cannot be good for the cpu to run at 90C... any ideas... Read somewhere that people with H series processors cant undervolt and then read another guy with the exact same cpu as mine could and then read that some OEM's are disabling undervolting... I tried to enable SVID in my bios... but the advanced section of my bios doesn't seem to show it... any ideas, or am I just forced to thermal throttle...

Many thanks,

BIOS is up to date? It is supposed to suck air from the bottom, please make sure it is getting good airflow by raising it from the table. You can put books on the sides just make sure the books doesn't block the vents under there. Any better like that?

Just updated the bios... The way the laptop is designed is to pull in air from the top grill (above the keyboard) and then exhaust it from the back and sides

I went through the same issue.

Your issue is different. His screenshot shows at the top of the FIVR window, FIVR Control - Locked

This means that his BIOS has locked out CPU voltage control. Many MSI laptops have an option in the BIOS to enable CPU voltage control. Even MSI laptops with 10th Gen CPUs have this option and it works. Asus decided that this option was not necessary. Some of their laptops will be constantly bouncing off the thermal throttling temperature limit. The heatsink and fans they are using are not adequate.

When CPU voltage control is locked out, this also locks out the turbo ratio limit adjusters. Your only option then is to lower the Speed Shift Max value in the TPL window. Running your CPU a little slower will result in less performance and less heat. Many games are not overly CPU speed dependent so you might not notice a big drop in performance. A Speed Shift Max setting of 35 equals 3500 MHz. Not much else you can do besides shop elsewhere next time.
