Will my GPU be bottlenecked by my CPU?

Pretty straight forward question, will my GPU be bottlenecked in a significant manner by my CPU?


I’m going to be running a GTX 1060 6GB SC as my GPU, and a FX-8370  @4GHz as my CPU. If it’s important I’ll also be running 20 GB of 1600MHz DDR3.

There will be a bottleneck in games that arent designed for multithreading very well. But I think things should run okay, and it shouldnt be a huge concern. I do recomend upgrading your CPU as soon as you can though, piledriver is getting really dated.

Depends on the game. In general going past 30fps will see CPU bottleneck in a couple of games and 60fps is pretty much as fast as the CPU will run the game

Good to hear. I’ll be building a new PC once this one stops being useful for me.

Make sure to turn on DX12 or vulkin in games that support it. It takes better advantage of piledriver CPUs.
