NAS Help Required.

HI all - Thanks in advance

 

House A - We have Synology NAS.

 

House B - I want to be able to directly connect to the NAS as if I was on the server.

 

I've tried to set up an open vpn connection from the NAS OS Control panel but I just keep getting connection failed.

 

Is there any step guides - like legit step by step as I've been trying this for hours now.

Ports/firewall probably blocked.

You want quick and dirty, use something like RDP or gotomypc or teamviewer to get into it.

You need to configure the firewall of house A to allow the webgui of the NAS ( lets say port https 443 ) and any other service your want.

 

VPN is not what you want, VPN is like one level higher, you need plain old NAT and port forwarding. Have a look at your router.
