~$2000 Computer Build Suggestions

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Also, one last question. Lets say I was playing Watchdogs or any other open-world games (or any other CPU intensive games) how much performance would you approximate I would be losing from a i5 v. an i7?

Little to none.

Hello Everybody! It is my first time on the LinusTechTips forums, been a long-supporter of the Linus Media Group and have just recently stopped being a lurker and decided to be assimilated into the community. Anyways, I'm going to be building a new computer soon, and what other place would I go to and try to seek help from my neighborhood geeks (well theoretically speaking since we're a community)

Here are some things that I am looking for in the rig:

NVIDIA Card (Thinking of a GTX 780 Superclocked)

i7 4770k Processor

16GB RAM

And that's about what I really want. If anyone could really help me out with the other choices or even better choices of the above, please leave a reply below. Thank you very much LTT Community!

EDIT: Okay, I may have spoiled myself abit. I guess the budget has been raised :D Any suggestions to change?

Looking to shop on mostly Amazon, but anything that will save me (keeping in mind shipping to U.S.)

Where are you shopping/located? What currency are you using?

Do you need a copy of Windows or any peripherals? What's the system being used for?

Hyouka, a personal favorite of mine.

Your build looks good, I'd get a IPS Panel if you don't need the extra refresh rate. Personally would go for quality Headphones and just buy a modmic. Either that or get a gaming headset from Sennheiser or Audio Technica.

You won't need the I7 for gaming, unless you plan on doing video rendering or if you just want to have it for the sake of being a power user.

Btw your avatar is making me hungry...

What gaming headset would you recommend? Looking for around the same price point as the v2s so any solution (headset or headphones with mod mic) would be okay with me as long as it's around the same price point

First off, thanks for the suggestions everyone. The monitor is for the refresh rate as I play a lot of CSGO and it really makes a big difference for me. The computer will be for gaming and the i7 will be for rendering.

What are you rendering? What else are you going to play? CSGO doesn't take much to run at all.

Hmm $55 is hard to work with. Lets see....

Superlux HD-668 B jumps from $30 - $60 Surprisingly great for the price.

And here the famous Modmic: http://www.modmic.com/

Yes, the CSGO part was to answer why I was going with my monitor choice. and I will be just rendering Youtube videos, 1080p of course.

Just gameplay videos? Programs being used?

Sony Vegas, mostly gameplay (Fraps footage, Adobe AE, etc;)

You don't need an i7 for that. The i5 is already plenty.

Are you planning to sli?

No, I am not planning to sli. So, the i5 would be enough for me to render things in a timely manner and not bottle-necking my GTX 780?

Your video encoding should be accelerated by the gpu. The i5 shouldn't actually do much if any of the rendering at all.

No, it wouldn't bottleneck.

Wow, thank you so much for all you've done for me. It's insane that you've shaved off enough to even throw in a BenQ and still be cheaper than my other build. Also, with the i5 and the non-stock coolers, I should be able to overclock this correct?
