A minute ago a friend of mine ask me for help and its a problem I haven't encountered yet, internet is not helping as well. He said that his PSU suddenly explodes. I ask him this few questions.

Q) Is the PSU new?

A) Yes its is 3 months old.

Q) What is its power rating?

A) Its a Gigabyte Bronze 550w

Q) Did it smoke when you heard a noise.

A) No I just heard a sound something that blew up.

This is the first time I encountered this. I also don't know what happened, because there is no smoke that came out. My question is what do you guys think blew up, is it possibly a fuse? Is it possible that other components are still safe?

It's pointless to guess. Check if it was a fuse or something else.

As said above, it's pointless to guess. The only way to know is to test.

what are your spec? and there wasn't anything happening with the power that you know of (from the house or thunderstrike).

Might be a bad powersupply or just need a new fuse, or send it back for a new unit.

as for the rest, he just have to test if those work. Else don't use the PSU if it is broken.

It is owned by my friend specs are:

Ryzen 5 3600

MSI B550 Bazooka

TUF RTX 2060

Gigabyte P550B Bronze

T-Force Delta 16gb 3200mhz

Cool just confirming if someone already encountered the same problem, and already did the things you said before and went well thanks for your time.

ah okey, not sure but he could have walked on the limit. although, it shouldn't explode.

so would just recommend he sends it back in return if he can?
