Hello everyone, I bought a Windows 10 pro key today because I wanted to upgrade from Windows 10 Home. Tried putting the key and it was not working. After some emails with the customer support they ended up telling me that I was not able to use the key, because I did not have Windows 10 pro installed and this was a Windows 10 pro key.

I knew this was bs, as I have seen a lot of tutorials online which show that you can enter the product key on the Home version. I 'll probably get a full refund, however can anyone recommend any good sites for Windows keys?

I've been getting mine on eBay and did home->pro upgrades several times by just using the "change product ID" in the activation page of system settings.

I think you have to use cmd to convert your windows version to pro. Are they trying to make you use external kms servers, in that case it would be a scam

No they didn’t, they sent me the key via email, but it didn’t work. I haven’t seen anywhere the method with cmd though. The tutorials i’ve seen just instruct you to just enter the key in “change product id” in settings to upgrade from home to pro.

I’ll probably check ebay out as well. Are there any region restrictions for the license?

I've used ebay for keys about 15 times no issues. I have noticed that the USA ebay site is getting hard to find the keys online, I think US ebay is cracking down on the sale because its a grey area in the USA, but ebay.co.uk has no issue with it, and has many more key sellers available. prices from aprox 3-5$ once converted from pounds sterling(I think thats what they call their currency) to USD

Have you tried clean installing windows?

You can use media creation tool to create a bootable media and boot from it. Start from the drive, add key there and check.

They said that they will issue me a refund. I suppose they tested the key and it was indeed not working.
