Hi there,

everything works great with my PC, but since last night my PC keeps crashing randomly. It happens while playing Warzone, Coldwar, Steep, sometimes instantly, sometimes after 20-40mins.  When running Stress Tests in Fur-Mark, everything is fine.

When crashing, all my monitors lose their signal and go to standby. The GPU fans start spinning at max speed. The audio from games and music still works, and I can talk to friends via discord and I can see all my RGB still working. I have to then force-shutdown my PC and restart it to get it working again.

My Conclusion --> some GPU related issue, probably related to VRAM usage (Fur-Mark doesn't use much VRAM, but games do)

Temperature stays at a steady 65 °C, so the issue isn't due to overheating

System:

  • RTX 2070 super (gigabyte)
  • Ryzen 3700x
  • 32gb ddr4-3600 ram (gskill) --> running in XMP
  • gigabyte Aorus x570 motherboard

what I tried already:

  • restarting- with power off
  • installing newest geforce driver for my 2070 super
  • checking power cables and GPU seating
  • running multiple fur-mark stress-test for 30min+

Any help is appreciated, much love.

Dominik

running in XMP

Turn that off, see what happens.

Typically tho, black screen like that means (but not always!) now enough power getting to the GPU...

This seems to work, although I don't understand why XMP should have anything to do with my GPU, will keep on testing to see if I get crashes again.

Hi,

This morning, I blackscreened again, after about 40mins in game. So XMP disabeling didn't do the job. You mentioned a power issue, any way I could track that?

Only with a hardware device to determine total power usage.

Called "Kill-A-Watt"
