Well then-- if Rust is the only thing crashing your computer you should try:

  • Updating your drivers;
  • Verifying game files integrity;
  • Uninstalling and re-instaling the game;
  • Seeing if there's some background program messing up your system ;
  • Updating Windows;
  • Opting out of Steam beta;
  • Changing your power option;
  • Seeing if it really is the only thing that causes a crash.

I have no drivers to update, only a bios update that I should do soon.
I uninstalled and reinstalled, still crashed.

Nothing in the background running that would mess up my system

I have no windows update

My power setting is performance

Im not opted in steam beta.

I'm honestly out of ideas myself, but I found a few other resources with extra fixes that may help you:

https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/solved-rust-keeps-crashing-2019-tips/#f  --  A post with some more stuff then I suggested;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lLT95yFFoY&feature=emb_title&ab_channel=ForTheBanterNI  --  And a video about fixing memory allocation;

I hope something here helps.

So it crashed after playing VR for about an hour. I'm thinking that the bios version I am currently running just lets me post and do light work/gaming, which is why when I try to load something or have done something that puts a lot of load on my CPU is causing it to crash. Probably going to update my bios sometime during this week.

I recently just built my computer and whenever I launch a game like Rust my computer just crashes? My computer doesn't lose power, it just kind of resets itself. Could it be the NVIDIA driver?
specs: Ryzen 5 5600x
ASUS ROG STRIX B550-A Gaming
NVIDIA RTX 3070

So i built my friends PC with a 5600x, Asus Rog strix b550-f, 2070 super and the only game he cant run is rust! Ive been trouble shooting all day, constantly reinstalling the game, steam, and even windows. We verified the file integrity and everything and still cant get rust to run. We're going to update his bios and see if that fixes anything. I found another guy on reddit that also has a rog strix b550 mobo and hes having a hard time with rust as well....

yeah it’s definitely an issue with the bios. I’m guessing he’s running version 1004 which is the version which allows you to post. Any game that uses a lot of your processor and puts it under a lot of power usage and load will crash your computer.
