Windows activation after several Mainboard swaps.

LeSLeeve
Go to solution Solved by LeSLeeve,

Phone activation can be forced with some commands.

cmd.exe (run as admin)

slmgr -upk [this erases the key]

slui 4 [now the key can be entered again]

slui 4 [phone activation is forced]

This worked for me, but I still wonder how often you can do this.

How do all the reviewers adress this? I changed my Mainboard twice now and Windows won't activate.

"Code 0xC004C020"

My key is legit and is used only on one machine. I have a multiple activation key provided by my university.

Does not work. I can't select "other activation options" in the system.

In that case, try running slui.exe.

Slui.exe also gives me only two options:  "Activate online" and "Ask again later". I remember there being more options including "activate by phone", but it's not there anymore. I have written an email to vlservem@Microsoft.com (Volume Licensing Service Center). Maybe they can help somehow.

you need to call Microsoft and they will tell u to type a code in the terminal and then will activate by phone.  I had to do that when I switched motherboards
