I recently had a psu burn out and give off smell. However I have read comments that this can fry other components, as far as I'm aware when I turn on my pc cpu fan light starts for 1second before shutting off again and as for my gtx1660super it usually shows 2 led lights but only one is showing when it was connected to power. Keep in mind this is still the same power supply that burned out . I'm just curious guys my gpu is still showing life but is it because the psu isn't supplying enough power that gpu is only showing 1 led light? This is the only component I'm concerned about as Im building a new pc but intend to use this gpu. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Unplug your computer and remove that power supply immediately or face losing other components in your system. Anytime you have something as serious as that happen, you do NOT want to continue using the power supply. If the power supply is still within the warranty period, RMA it with the manufacturer.

Most likely, a capacitor blew up in the power supply. As a result, it is straining other components in the power supply trying to output power to the rest of the system.
