if i had a system with 3 mSATA ssd's in raid 2 and i wanted to replace it with larger capacity mSATA ssd's would i have  reconfigure the factory raid 2 again or change anything. or is it just take out olds ones and bung in the new ones ?????

I'm pretty sure you are not actually using raid 2, you are probably using raid 0 or 5. If you are using raid 0 there is no way you can swap disks you will have to store the data elsewhere and restore it after you have set up your new array. If it's raid 5 I think there might be some way of adding one disk at a time until all the disks have been replaced but I've never done it and it might depend on your raid controller.

What do you mean by RAID 2? There's no such thing anymore, RAID 2 was phased out after drives began implementing the correction code natively.

 

Perhaps you mean RAID 0 or RAID 5 like Captain3xtreme said?

Dude, you should upgrade to super duper raid 0, epic fail...

 

As for reconfiguring, it all depends on,

 

1. Are you buying three new mSATA drives?

2. Do you want to RAID them?

3. Did you backup or copy any valuable data/info from the current RAID to a separate disk so you can get it back?

4. Do you have the drivers ready to install after the OS is installed?

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

basicaly i have just brought the new msi gt60 2pe dominator i comes with 3 msata's 128gb in raid 0 i mean but since the new samsung evo 840 1000gb msata's came out i wan to replace the 128gb ones with the 1000gbs ones but do i have to reconfigure the raid i have backed up everything and the os to.
