it is possible, the ram will just run at 2133

My motherboard has a cap of 2133mhz for memory, and I want to install new ram (3000mhz), will it work?

along with that, if your ram has a higher CAS Latency, It will run to that latency (and i think it can lower in order to match the memory but your ram will match the specs to the ddr4-2133 stick)
