I'm a 100% confident that even the cheapo 15$ ebay condenser mic from some unknown Chinese clone company sounds better and works better than even the mic on a 500$ razer or steelseries headset.

As for the headphones after much price comparison and all that I recon the 32 ohm DT770 are probably the best choice. Closed, low impedance, great sound etc... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Beyerdynamic-DT-770-PRO-32-Headphones-NEW-Extended-Warranty-/181309005572?pt=US_Headphones&hash=item2a36dbdf04&_uhb=1 I found them for a fantastic price shipped from Australia despite them being the 320hm version. Let him know if you have any better recommendations at that price point in the region (just look crap up on ebay.com.au , there isn't much choice on NZ specific websites)

Keep in mind he isn't American, those prices are gonna be brutal.

I like the 770 idea, but them prices may shoot it down.

nope. Those prices are Australian ;) , I made sure I checked.

It says 190 AUD, so it's well within the 300 NZD budget of the OP.

Hey. I need some help with audio for my setup. I don't know what kind of headset I should get or sound card or amps. I'm lost and only 12. Please help

I'm looking for 7.1 surround sound. I'm not sure weather a sound card on inbuilt is better. Let alone adding an amp. Selecting all of this is hard because of my country (NZ) and most things need to be imported and I'm not importing anything. I hope for a reply soon. Thanks

So to recap what I and Emo would likely recommend for your price range, here it is:

Tmart (some unknown Chinese brand) SF-930 desktop condenser mic. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-SF-930-Condenser-Sound-Professional-Microphone-Mic-PC-Laptop-/290972664654?pt=AU_Pro_Audio&hash=item43bf52834e&_uhb=1 It should sound almost as good as a blue yeti or snowball while costing pennies on the dollar (around 20 NZD)

DT770 32 ohm headphones (ATTENTION: buy the 32ohm versions from the link provided. The 250 ohms won't stand a chance with your motherboard's built in audio solution) Great deal for around 200 NZD

Link is right here: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Beyerdynamic-DT-770-PRO-32-Headphones-NEW-Extended-Warranty-/181309005572?pt=US_Headphones&hash=item2a36dbdf04&_uhb=1

For the love of god just buy these damn headphones and DO NOT buy any wireless headphones or some stupid headset. The sound quality, comfort and build quality along with the mic quality of a condensor mic are night and day.

My other headset is wired and its annoying me so i prefer no wires

is the wire annoying because it's too short and therefore gets caught on stuff?

Wireless at least for audio is still decades away (not joking). Bluetooth is clunky and sucks. Proprietary wireless on Sennheiser headphones costs 3x as much as the same headphones without wireless etc..

I can recommend some extension cables for you if cable length is the reason for your annoyance.

well then you can't really do much unless you mod them to make them shorter (but that's complicated and another story).

PS: nevermind you could just use the ziptie that comes with your bread or whatever to tie the cables to make them shorter haha

Anyways I believe the default cable on the DT770 isn't super long so it shouldn't be an issue. Again if it's too short you can buy a 3.5mm male to female extension cord or if it's too long tie them using one of these:

you don't like the DT770? They are definitely comfier and feel higher quality than the logitech UE6000 I was thinking about earlier.

Not to mention they sure as hell sound better.

If you want to be stubborn and buy some other headphones go for it. But don't come crying to us when your headphones break after a couple months because they are some cheaply built headset.

Damn...

Sad thing is you CAN do better those those Logitechs, or Razers, or Steelseries.

well to be fair the logitech UE6000 I posted are not just some horrible sounding logitech headset because they are one of their heapdhones from their ultimat ears line (company they bought out recently) and actually sound decent according to most reviews I've seen. However the DT770 look a lot more premium, definitely feel better with those velour pads, probably sound quite a bit better from what I've heard (unintended pun) and are built like tanks unlike those logitechs.

I know, UE is respectable, but not THE BEST!, there are better options to be had.

I know, thats a good idea. But the headset isnt the prettiest thing in the world. Just something good, 5.1, And looks alright

5.1 is complete poooooooo

Seriously. Headsets are not worth it and have never been (don't even get me started on those "7.1" and "5,1" headsets). Even Sennheiser and Audio Technica headsets (the only companies out there that make decent sounding headsets) are still stupidly overpriced and as such are a horrible value for the money.

Especially if you plan on commentating I don't know why you're even considering headsets at all. A headset mic is completely subpar for recording stuff even though it's just fine for skype calling and whatnot.

You won't be dissapointed I swear to god.

Ok well anyway this is taking to much of your guys time up so im going to go. Thanks for the help. Im going to buy that standalone mic it actually looks pretty good

If you have the 240$ NZD total it will cost for both the mic and headphones though, you definitely should spend it.

You'll see how much of a bigger difference it makes from the Astros you currently own. It's totally worth it.

If you really are not looking forward to spending 200 NZD on headphones though I can recommend you some budget picks that still sound fantastic for the price (although they may not have the comfort of the DT770)
