Hey. I need some help with audio for my setup. I don't know what kind of headset I should get or sound card or amps. I'm lost and only 12. Please help

I'm looking for 7.1 surround sound. I'm not sure weather a sound card on inbuilt is better. Let alone adding an amp. Selecting all of this is hard because of my country (NZ) and most things need to be imported and I'm not importing anything. I hope for a reply soon. Thanks

what motherboard do you have? If you don't know what computer are you running right now?

What's your budget for headphones? Do you also want headset (microphone) capability?

Do you want closed or open headphones? (closed headphones offer more isolation and don't leak noise to your neighbours while open will let sound leak in and out but will generally provide better soundstage which is important for gaming)

Before We can answer you question we need some more information first.

1.How much are you looking to spend?

2.What would be using this for primarily?

3.What will you be using this on (laptop, desktop, phone etc.)

With disregard to budget, features, and use case, sure.

But would be nice to have his requirements before we go throwing out random suggestions.

you won't need a DAC or AMP in your case (unless you end up buying real high impedance headphones that demand an amp)

Please answer the rest of the questions I posted in the previous post though, otherwise I can be of no help,

Location+budget+microphone necessity+closed or open is what I need you to answer.

you just answered them, nevermind.

You'll be fine with most headphones, more so in your budget.
Open - there is nothing hold the movement of air behind the driver.
Closed -  there is a wall holding air back.
Open headphones will be characterized by a very balanced and airy sound signature.
Closed headphones will generally be best for portable use for reasons.
Read the FAQ.

I don't suggest based on brands for the most part but rather specific models.

And are you sure you really really want to have the microphone built in? Because the choices would be a lot broader and better if you would be willing to buy a 15$ desktop microphone or something.

Also could you tell me if most Australian websites ship to New Zealand (for pricing purposes and recommendations)?

In your budget, for home use only, you could find a pair of HD558's. Which will be great for most anything that you could throw at them.
For on the go and home use, COP would probably up there as a solid option.
Don't know what international prices will be like. A website, or site store would be very helpful.

Im not sure about Australia ships to NZ but i would be able to track some down here. There isnt much of a price difference though. And im starting a youtube channel soon and i need a good built in because i wanted to get a Blue Yeti but they have to be imported from US.

I was thinking of recommending the Logitech UE 6000 in his price range. the noise cancelling on them is a gimmick, but they are a little under his 300 NZD budget. Otherwise just some good old DT770?

We would first need to know if the OP wants closed or open though.

Powering them might be an issue at that point. Unless he luckily finds 80 ohms.

Amusing thing is that is the better sounding route.

yes but its just extra money, but if i got some good headphones (wireless that charge and dont use batterys) then i might consider a desktop mic

yeah closed would probably be better now that you say you would want tor record gameplay or something.

Here's my recommendation for microphone in New Zealand. SF-930 no brand microphone on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-SF-930-Condenser-Sound-Professional-Microphone-Mic-PC-Laptop-/290972664654?pt=AU_Pro_Audio&hash=item43bf52834e&_uhb=1

Less than 20 NZD and won't sound much different than a blue yeti.

Here's a review with sound test (towards the end)

I'll give you a headphone rec as soon as I find some on ebay. Just wait 10 mins.

WIreless is also a bad thing...

And it isn't extra money. Even dropping the price of the headphones will leave the headphones four times better then a god awful headset.

you don't need to get a blue yeti for good mic sound at all. It's a waste to import them from the US.  Take a look at the mic I recommended.

I'm a 100% confident that even the cheapo 15$ ebay condenser mic from some unknown Chinese clone company sounds better and works better than even the mic on a 500$ razer or steelseries headset.

As for the headphones after much price comparison and all that I recon the 32 ohm DT770 are probably the best choice. Closed, low impedance, great sound etc... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Beyerdynamic-DT-770-PRO-32-Headphones-NEW-Extended-Warranty-/181309005572?pt=US_Headphones&hash=item2a36dbdf04&_uhb=1 I found them for a fantastic price shipped from Australia despite them being the 320hm version. Let him know if you have any better recommendations at that price point in the region (just look crap up on ebay.com.au , there isn't much choice on NZ specific websites)
