What GPU under 330 cad is the best when paired with a ryzen 3 3100. I was originally going to get the 1650 super but i dont think 4gb of vram could last me a few years. Im debating between the 1650 super, 580, 5500xt and 1660 super. There is about a 100$ diffrence from the 1650s to the 1660s and im wondering if it is worth it to get the better card for the price.

how much is 5600XT? that is better than 1660 super around the same price usually.

the GPU markets seriously overpriced currently. The 1650/580/5500xt are all similar in performance. But the 1650 and 5500xt were never fantastic value against the 580. Personally of those three, i'd be trying to pick up a used 580 8gb for US$170-180. Avoid the 1650 with 4gb ram. If you can find an 8gb 5500xt for the right money, then its a solid option.

The 1660 Super is perhaps 20% faster than that grouping, and sits alongside the likes of the Vega56 and 1070. The question of course is one of price. If you could find one of those three for $250ish that would be a reasonable deal. I suspect youre better off trying for the older cards, as the newer ones again hold a premium that doesnt reflect their performance.

right now the 1650 super is around 230 cad, the 5500xt 8gb is 299 cad, the 580 8gb is also 299 cad and the 1660 non super is 299 cad. All those prices are for new ones. Buying used things especially electronics is always a big gamble. Isnt the 5500 xt better than the 580?

My opinion is go with the RX580 8GB variant. It's powerful for 1080p and can run the most demanding games today just fine. Also 8GB for 1080p is plenty for years to come I bet. I'm still using my 1060 6GB and I never run out of VRAM in 1080p.

Budget Gamer at heart.

I would go 1660 super if you can afford it.  The 40$ more (vs the 580 8gb) is worth IMO and you're probably good with it for some time.

I wouldnt be buying any new GPU just now in this lower price tier. The new generation have much better price/performance ratios, but they havent launched the lower tier models yet, and the older cards have gotten MORE expensive making them really poor value.

So personally, if i had to buy in that lower market segment at the moment, i'd be trying to find a decent priced used card.

5500xt and 580 trade blows, 5% faster here, 5% slower there, but are largely equivalent. 300CAD for either though, seems too much. The MSRP of the 5500xt 8GB was US$200 at launch, which is what, 250CAD? and at launch it was poor value because the 580 was available new for less money.
