My pc often shuts down by itself without any reason for it. I don’t even have to be using it, most of the time it happens while it’s idling. When it does this, I can’t boot it up without unplugging the psu and waiting 15 or so seconds until I plug it back in and press the power button. I have put this question up on the forums several times, but the responses haven’t produced the results I’ve been looking for. I’ve tried: updating my PCs bios (I have a Ryzen 5 5600x paired with an ASRock x570 Phantom Gaming 4 ax), at  @RothN2O suggestion. I’ve done several reinstalls of windows, moved my power plug from the multibox to the main port on the wall, fiddled with my power settings in windows, upgraded my power supply and RAM (since they were bottlenecking my system hard). The only thing I can think is causing my problem is the GPU (1650 OC) although I doubt it’s the problem. If anyone has a solution, I’d be very grateful

thanks

solution

do you get any type of errors, does your event viewer say anything around the time you "shutdown" and by shutdown, do you mean the whole computer turns off or does the screen go black? fans spinning? lights?.   If you have done all of the replacing of parts and reinstalls then perhaps your video card is causing it.  Borrow one from a friend and try it out.

not that old I would assume, he is using a 5600x and x570 board

the oldest component is my sata ssd which is two-three years old, and gpu being a year and a few days but everything else is under a year old.

everything shuts off. fans stop spinning, power button light goes off. the only sign of activity is the little orange light on the motherboard that sits near the rear I/O

i believe it happened 3 or so times in th time between 2-3 pm NZT with this error code popping up a fair amount: "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID"

do you have the full error with the CLSID.

actually nevermind that code, I got one that is listed as critical: event 41, kernel-power "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." dunno how to fix it, and the articles online don't seem likely that what they say to do will work

IMO its the mobo problem. can you try turning off core boost, pbo and xmp and see if it helps?

If i turn off xmp, It's likely that I'm gonna run into more problems that I eradicated a while ago, and I have never used the other two
