Budget ($1000-$1500):

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: not sure

Other details:

so what im hoping to achieve with this computer is hopefully high settings for most games at 1080p 75hz

the only real thing im stuck on is i want to use a Ryzen 5 5600x with this build and what ever motherboard would be best for its future upgradability.

this is the list of parts i had been looking at getting if you have other suggestions i am 100% for them just could you explain your reasoning so i can learn :)

Case: Fractal Design Meshify C

CPU: ryzen 5 5600x

Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix B550-F (my understanding is i should go with x570 or b550 for upgradeability and what i could tell b550 sounded like it had better features am i right?)

Memory: G.Skill 32GB DDR4 PC4-28800 3600MH

Power supply: Seasonic FOCUS GX-550 (should i get more watts for possible bigger graphics card update down the line)

Hard drive: Sabrent 1TB Rocket Q4 NVMe PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280

GPU: this i really need suggestions im just looking for something mid range right now till the prices are more stable. ive been thinking of even getting a gtx 1060 6gb card cause it seemed to fit getting me to 1080p and just pick it up used till later next year also i was looking at a ASRock Challenger ITX Radeon RX 5500 XT DirectX 12 RX5500XT CLI 8G 8GB 128-Bit GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 x8 HDCP Ready Video Card. but i dont want to spend that much unless its gonna last me a bit. gpu and motherboard is really where im struggling on ideas

Motherboard: There's lots of good B550 options. The Strix F is great, as are most of the MSI boards like the A-Pro and Tomahawk, and the full-ATX Aorus boards. Just make sure your board can update the BIOS without a CPU/bios flashback, as this is occasionally necessary on 5000 series. If you're not planning on heavy overclocking, you could go lower without issues, but keep in mind that a lot of those boards don't support BIOS flashback.

Currently the best deals look like the B550M Pro-VDH at the lower end, B550-A Pro in the midrange, B550 Aorus Pro in the mid-high end, and B550 Aorus Master at the very high end-- the Pro-VDH is plenty for most use cases, B550-A Pro if you want to do some heavy overclocking, and the other two if you'd be looking at something like an overclocked 5950X in the future.

Graphics card wise, between the 5500XT and 1060 6GB, there's not a huge performance difference, so I'd go with whatever is cheaper.

It seems weird that you want a 5600x with that low end of a graphics card, it will not be a good combination at all. Also, unless you need it for work purposes, gen 4 m.2 drives aren’t needed for. If you are planning on upgrading to a 3000 series down the line, this is a great starting point except or the PSU, you will definitely need more wattage available. If not, you should rethink this build, take some money away from CPU, ram, storage, and even your motherboard and upgrade your GPU and PSU. Honestly, I think you should wait if you want to use a 5600x in your build till you have the budget to pair it with a better GPU.

ya the plan was build it high end except for the GPU cause prices are insane right now and then 3 or 4 months from now when people have been saying to wait i wanna save up and buy a $600 or so card. i was also wondering if i should take a step back on the m.2 to get a little more storage vs speed

Ok, so if you plan on doing that, I think you may not need 32 gigs of ram, you could go with a cheaper motherboard, and a small (256-500 gig) nvme along with a larger 2 tb hdd. And also please upgrade your power supply with something of higher wattage depending on which gpu you plan on getting.
