Fps capped

my specs:                             

rx 570                                 

i5 4590                                

12gb ddr3 ram                  

250gb ssd                            

500w EVGA br psu  

msi optix c24g1 144hz freesync monitor

 

when playing rust i get similar fps in ultra  50-60 in low settings when i should be getting a 30+fps increase, how can this be? cpu? ram?

yes something else is a bottleneck than your GPU if its not improving by lowering the settings.

Those are slower speed ones, but use something like MSI afterburner ingame to see your usage and temp.

i get 100 on cpu, so pretty sure its a cpu bottleneck

I guess you have to look forward to a new CPU, MB, RAM upgrade in the future or sooner?

Maybe GPU too, if it's starting to struggle, but could maybe last a bit longer.

ya was planning on ryzen 1500,2600 or 3600

Vsync caps your framerate to prevent screen tearing (technically syncs frames with your monitor). If that was on in the game settings, that'd be why your framerate is capped. 

I'm not talking about freesync to be clear
