Question about which cables i can use to power my CPU

iPotatis

So, i just bought a new PSU which comes with 2 cables that are 4+4 for the CPU, my motherboard requires 12pins in total. Is it possible to use one 4+4 and half of the other or do i have to buy a PSU that comes with a 8+4?

u can use 4+4 and 4 from the other one, leaving the other 4 dangling

it's meant to be split that way just fine

though you may also argue that 4+4 is enough for most cases and you can leave the extra 4 unplugged, but since you have it anyways, why not

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately
