CPU Cooler Recommendations Needed Please

Hey guys,

I've just built my new PC but stupidly didn't measure up for the CPU cooler and managed to get one that was too big for the case (ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 - Multi), woops!. I've sent it back now but am looking to get my hands on a new one so would love to get some recommendations, here are the details:

Case: Cooler Master MasterBox TD500 Mesh - White

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x

Motherboard: MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk atx am4

RAM: Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3200C16 Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16

Thanks!

360mm or 280mm aio can fit on top and front. 280mm aio can fit on top and front with no restriction. 360mm on top will have a restriction height of motherboard of 44mm max height. I suggest 280mm aio for ease of mind. 280mm aio is still good to cooler down 6 cores 5600x.

Clearance for cpu air cooler is 165mm/6.49". You can fit a beefy Noctua NH D15 or D15S cooler. According to Noctua case specification, you case is compatible with Noctua NH D15 and D15S. Now we need motherboard and ram to see if this cooler will be compatible.

As one could see on a recent linus tech tipps video air coolers mostly perform better than aio solutions. So for this not that high tdp cpu i would suggest some kind of air cooler, if you don´t care to much about aesthetics. Always have been a big fan of the bequiet product range like the shadow rock 3, or from nocuta the nh-u12s

Wouldnt overdo it, because just unnecessary...

Cheers, I've added the extra details into the original thread.

The cooler I bought that didn't fit was: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 280 - Multi so I'm not sure a 280 will fit?

280mm aio will fit on top and front fine. Here is your case specifications: https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/mid-tower/masterbox-td500-mesh-mesh-white/#specifications

Sorry but that is just not correct.  most AIO's will out perform large air coolers especially 280/360 rads.  With the arctic freezer II 280 i've seen 10C less than when using a NH-D15 with the same loudness.
