I have a AMD Ryzen 7 3800x 105 watt TDP version of this processor, I use my computer to play modern warfare and iRacing. What my question is, I am considering going to a lower wattage version of this same processor. How low can I go to I seen a 65w and a 95w version of it but don't want instability in my system. My computer is as follows:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x 105 w tdp

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S

RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro

Storage: WD Blue 500gb M.2 drive

Video Card: 8gb 2060 super nvidia fe

Power supply: 850 watt corsair rmx

Case: Fractal Design Meshify C with stock fans but will be changing them soon to be quiet silentwings 3 120mm pwm high speed

would I see any temperature drops by doing this or is there any benefits of it based on system I have? Thanks for any input. Ive never really understood the TDP concept of processors.

The ryzen 7 3800X comes in one version so unfortunately you're stuck with what you have.

However it doesn't matter so you can rest assured that your system will be quite alright with what it has now.

The main thing to note about the listed TDP of a processor is that it is primarily a marketing specification, and doesn't really have anything to do with what you will see the processor doing most of the time.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Why? Is there something wrong? You have a crazy good cooler with a very nice case for airflow so why would you get a slower cpu? The temps will barely change.

At first when playing modern warfare on this pc, it was pushing it kind of hard like getting up to 60 degrees celsius all around in 10 minutes after a match. I finally figured out how to limit the FPS on this particular game because before appearently what it was doing was making my graphics card run at about 200fps or so at least trying to and making it work harder. I limited FPS to 30 and 1080p and it seems to be the computer's sweet spot after 20 minutes of play it didn't get above 45 degrees celsius and that was making me think I might need to change something hardware wise. In comparison to the stock case fans, what do you think about the bequiet case fans I have listed in my build I'm considering are they better or should i stay the same and just add one additional one to the pc like the ones in it now?
