Hey guys, I just recently bought and managed to get my hands on a 5600x and a mobo, and was wondering what the process would be like when upgrading from my current system (4690k)?

The problem lies in my bootdrive, an SSD. I would like to keep all my files and programs, but unfortunately it seems like a reinstall of Windows is required when doing this sort of upgrade. I recently found out about a new type of reinstall in Windows though, one which doesn't delete programs. I'm a bit hesitant with this, as I haven't seen it used anywhere else. I've also seen people recommend sysprep, is this something I could do aswell?

All this assuming of course I can actually boot the system after switching the CPU and mobo...

Thanks in advance!

There is a way to reinstall Windows that keeps your personal files, but not programs. It's done via Recovery Mode:
1. Mash F11 while your system boots up

2. Reinstall Windows with the option

3. Select "Keep personal files"

4. Wait

5. Reinstall programs

PLEASE STOP [Killing] ME I WILL GIVE Y OU ANOTHER DEAL.

Yeah, aware of this, but would really like to keep my programs if it's at all possible
