Looking for new 1440p IPS/VA monitor

peep

So I'm looking for a new 1440p 144Hz 27" monitor, I'm coming from a TN panel 24" 1080p 144Hz monitor, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to handle the ghosting of a VA monitor. I want to use this monitor for gaming, and I'm looking to play games like Cyberpunk, Metro Exodus, Outer Worlds etc, as well as competitive games like Rainbow Six Siege. I'm leaning more towards an IPS panel monitor, because of the lack of ghosting and I want to be wowed by the colours, I'm not so much looking for great accuracy I just want to be impressed because my TN panel monitor doesn't do much justice. The issue with IPS panels from what I've read is that in dark rooms the blacks look really bad, and I'm not sure how I'll be able to handle that...

Any suggestions? I've been leaning towards the LG 27GL850-B or the Acer VG270UP (which I can't find in-stock anywhere)

Since your budget seems to be around $500 I'll recommend these. I'll also add the GL850 for easy comparision. Rtings has not reviewed the Acer you're looking at.

27" G7 has also been on sale for around $500, so you might want to check if it's on sale.

And lastly I would recommend you read our sticky as it helps you to understand the reviews better.

Thanks for your reply, so in your opinion do you think I should get an IPS or VA panel, and if you use an IPS panel how do you find the IPS glow in dark scenes in a dark room?

Since you said in the op that you're unsure if you can handle the ghosting, I would say an IPS unless you can afford the G7.

No idea for general usage as I don't use my monitor in dark room. But when watching completely dark monitor in a dark room, I don't find it that bad.

I'm using the GL850 myself.

Ah okay thank you for your help, last question how do you find the contrast ratio because I've seen people complaining about the contrast ratio of the GL850 being quite poor

It is bad, but if it matters for you depends more on the monitors you have used in the past.

I've used TN monitors for most of my life so first thing I noticed in my GL850 were the blacks, because they looked so dark to me.
